Look Great in Goth Dresses

Goth dresses are part of Goth fashion. Most women who are into the Goth scene wear a dress that suits the whole idea of Goth. These dresses are typically dark, sometimes considered morbid. Usually people who wear Goth clothing have their hair dyed black and wear black makeup on their face and black nail polish. There are people in the Goth subculture that wear less black than others but in most cases those people wearing dresses will be wearing black dresses.

If you are looking for a great way to express yourself there are even Goth prom dresses on the market today. If pink and fluffy is not your style and you are looking for sometime dark then you are in luck. Goth prom dresses are referred to as Gothic prom dresses in stores and dress shops. These dresses are not limited to the typical black; they also include colours as a deep purple, rich green and may even have deep red accents. The colours of these dresses are often dramatic and have a great impact. A Gothic dress is designed with a tapered waste and the use of waist cinchers and corsets are very dominant.

Other prominent features of the Gothic dress include a long hemline with long angled sleeves. These sleeves are usually designed so that they billow at the wrist. Some dresses have feathers, and sharp detailing. The great thing about Gothic dresses is that you will rarely find two that are identical. A major part of this subculture is that people want to be expressive and different. They try not to look like everyone else.

Historically Gothic dresses were not always black. The term Gothic referred simply to the style of the dress rather than the colour. If you are looking for a Gothic style dress that is not a dark colour you can look online. There are a number of great websites that specialize in selling these dresses for a reduced price. There are also speciality dress stores that offer a wide array of Gothic dresses in a number of styles and colours. It may even be possible that you can have a store order in a particular dress for you. There are also Gothic fashions sites that are dedicated to helping people find the clothing that they want.

Black Gothic dresses are sometimes confused with heavy metal subculture. There are a number of people in the heavy metal subculture that wear long black trench coats as do people in the Goth culture. This is where people often get confused. People who are in the Goth scene typically separate themselves by wearing black makeup and having their hair dyed black. Confusion is that there is another subculture of the heavy metal groups that is called black metal. There is a resemblance to the dresses that are worn in the Gothic culture.

If you really want to have a typical prom dress, but in the Goth style, there is another option. You can buy a cheap dress with frills and flounces in a light color and dye it black. However, you have to make sure that the fabric of the dress is one that can be dyed.

So You've Decided You Want To Become a Goth

How do i dress goth as a guy?

I want to dress goth for Halloween.I mostly see answers for girls to dress goth.I want details mostly about like accessory and makeup wise.Thank you!

Well it depends on if you want to look like a "spooky kid" (aka a goth poseur) or an actual goth.

For the poseur look ... white facepaint and thick black eyeliner... think dressing like eric dravan (the crow in the movie by the same name)

If you want to look like someone from an actual goth club, for clothes look more at clothes worn in the matrix movies for examples. (most of the looks they used were ones taken right from the goth club fashion of the last dozen years before the movie.) Easy way would be black pants (jeans, cargos, or slacks... your choice), Black shirt (either band shirt of a goth band... NOT Manson or Evanessence, they are not goth rock... or black shirt of anykind works.), add some black combat boots and maybe a silver cross or ankh neclace and you have the fashion for a club. (Do NOT do the keychain on the wallet thing...ugg how tacky)
On makeup... get a good base 1 to 2 shades lighter than your skin tone, black mascara, and eyeliner (the semi liquid pencils are best, and easiest to get a good line with), on fingernails you can use the standard black, or if you can find it get chrome. A standard powder works well over the base, but you can powder with corn starch to get the same look that will last the evening better. (good for concerts.)

Oh and bands to look for for goth rock, if you want authentic would be: Bauhaus, the Sisters of Mercy, Cruxshadows, Siouxie and the Banshees, etc... but you would probably find it easiest just to get a t shirt from the band the Cure.
